Soundscapes · an independent six-day festival on Zanzibar Zanzibar 21 – 26 January 2027

The callof the tides.

Soundscapes invites you to spend a week outside your everyday life. For six days we trade the phone check, the calendar grid and the polite distance between strangers for long sets, sunrise swims and whatever happens when distance dissolves. Music is the engine. Not a show to watch, but a fire everyone is sitting around. Come as you are. Leave inspired.

We are creating a space where communities meet to exchange, learn from one another, share, and grow in understanding and experience. It is a global network of kindred spirits, driven by curiosity, carried by music that moves us and art that stays with us, and fuelled by practices that give body and mind room to truly arrive.

A full-on experience, curated with skill and care from the first consideration to the last detail, guided by the land we’re on and the story we create together: shared meals, smiles on the dance floor, and dips in the sea.

Program.

Twice a day the sea in front of Zanzibar pulls back and returns. For a thousand years people, animals and ships have lived by that rhythm. It is the island's oldest beat.

Once a year the beat becomes a call. Five beings set out: one rises from the deep, one rides the monsoon, one wanders the reef, one already waits at the tideline, and one comes from the land, carried on the wind as a scent. The program is in their hands.

Kaskazi never stops moving. it carried ships, spices and every good rumour across this ocean. now it carries the bass.
